Sports Medicine Fellowship Program in Emergency Medicine
The Department of Emergency Medicine at North Shore University Hospital is pleased to offer a one-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship in Sports Medicine.
The Sports Medicine Fellowship Program in Emergency Medicine will prepare the fellow to diagnose and manage medical illnesses and injuries related to sports, exercise, and rehabilitation as well as successful completion of the Sports Medicine board exam. The program is designed to encourage the fellow to further develop their skills in teaching and research with opportunities in both regional and national forums.
To optimize and diversify the clinical experience, the fellow collaborates with exercise physiologists from Adelphi University, Athletic Trainers with experience at all levels of competition, and Sports Medicine Specialists throughout the health system and the NY Metropolitan area as well as at Central Sports Care, a Sports Medicine focused rehabilitation center.

The program will emphasize the full gamut of Sports Medicine including physiology and bio mechanics; principles of nutrition; effects of performance and competition; team physician and training room principles; and the medical legal aspects of exercise and sports. Our program also offers the excitement of a Sports Medicine education within the New York Metropolitan area. The fellow will work with experts in both the office and on the field. Many venues will be available for coverage by the fellow at all levels of competition. More details about this exciting new training program are available upon inquiry.
The successful applicant will have satisfactorily completed residency training at an ACGME accredited program and have demonstrated a strong interest in sports medicine.
